Harrisburg, Pennsylvania – One escaped Dauphin County juvenile was brought in safely by county probation officers today, and two remain at large as of 5:50 p.m.

Dauphin County commissioners have confirmed this news with Harrisburg100. The three teens, who were housed at the Schaffner Youth Center under juvenile probation court placements, escaped at 11:45 p.m., on Thursday September 14, 2023, according to Dauphin County press secretary Jennifer Fitch.

Fitch reported that the teens allegedly left the detention center while staff were addressing a diversion, but it otherwise remains unclear how the teens were able to escape the secure facility.

Brittany Scott, the mother of one escaped teen, was interviewed on camera. She told abc27 at this time the juvenile delinquents are a danger to the community.

Police and probation officers are out in force in nearby municipalities around Dauphin County, and are utilizing a variety of resources including a helicopter patrolling overhead this weekend.

This is a developing story.
